A high school teacher in Galena says he’s being wrongfully accused of vandalizing school property. At issue is a video tape that shows a person pulling up in a truck on school property early one morning in April and walking toward a gas pump near the school bus garage.
Even though online court records show no official charges have been filed in Stone County, Bill Mulholland says he was put on administrative leave.
He was a social science teacher and baseball coach at the school.
Mulholland told Springfield television station K-O-L-R he was pulled out the classroom by the school principal, and told to leave the school after being questioned by the school superintendent and a Stone County sheriff’s deputy.
The television station says the school district responded with a letter that said it acted in accordance with all state laws as well as all district policies and procedures.
Mulholland says he is actively looking for a new teaching position.
