Grudek says family members and the search team had looked in the heavily wooded area where Rich’s body was recovered, but were unable to spot him because of the mountainous terrain and thick underbrush. The sheriff says they’re not sure yet whether to suspect foul play, but initial observations show no evidence of wounds.

Grudek says Rich was last seen around noon Tuesday, and was reported missing by family members later that night. His body was recovered about 200 yards from his home. The body has been sent to the state medical examiner.

Grudek says Rich’s body was found some 200 yards from his home. Family members conducted the initial search before authorities from Carroll, Benton, Madison and Newton Counties were called in to help cover the rough, mountainous terrain.
