The Liberty fire continues to burn in the Mark Twain National Forest in Taney County.  Becky Bryan with the U-S Forest Service says the fire is still under investigation, with no determination yet as to how it started.

Some 15 miles away, at the Taney-Christian County line, what is now being called the Martin fire covers up to 12-hundred acres.  There’s also a fire line around that fire because of the extreme drought conditions.  Several local volunteer fire departments are working with the Forest Service and the Missouri Department of Conservation. Bryan says there are now nine fires burning within U-S Forest Service land in southern Missouri.
