BREAKING: Student from Texas Drowns in Table Rock Lake

The body of a 23 year old man who drowned in Table Rock Lake Tuesday afternoon has been recovered.

Missouri Highway Patrol Water Enforcement Division Corporal Mark Green tells HometownDailyNews.com the accident happened at approximately 1 o’clock in a cove near the State Park Campground along Highway 165, south of Branson.

Green says the body was recovered just over an hour later by a diver with the Western Taney County Fire Protection District.

The victim has been identified as 23 year old Gbenga (juh-benga) Afolabi (uh-FOLE-uh-bee) of HoustonTexas.  He attended the University of Texasand was part of a group called the Navigators, a Christian based ministry made up of students across the country, in Branson for a summer training program.

The Western Taney County Fire Protection District, Taney County Sheriff’s Department and State Park Rangers assisted with the investigation.
