OAK GROVE, Ark. – Firefighters contain a residential structure fire Sunday evening off of Highway 311 south of the Long Creek Bridge in Carroll County, Arkansas.

Assistant Chief of the Oak Grove Fire Department Mike McKelvey says crews were called to the home just after 5 p.m. on a report of heavy smoke showing from the back of the building.

The first unit on scene initiated a second alarm, bringing in support from Green Forest and Southern Stone County firefighters. McKelvey says the response was upgraded again as a safety precaution…

McKelvey says crews quickly knocked down the blaze and as additional support arrived, firefighters utilized a thermal imaging camera to locate hot spots inside the structure.

He says the fast response limited damage to the building, as the blaze was contained to the living room area. The occupants were not home at the time, and McKelvey gives credit to the passersby who reported the fire…

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries are reported.
