Award winning vocal music group SIX is moving to the Mickey Gilley Theatre for 2012.  The group made the announcement via Facebook just after 9 o’clock last night, then told their audience prior to intermission, with Mickey Gilley himself coming out on stage at their current home at The Hughes Brothers Theatre.  SIX spokesman Kevin Knudsen spoke exclusively with HometownDailyNews.com after the show, saying the group’s social media experiment, with the announcement, worked.

SIX first announced earlier this month on Facebook that it was looking for a new venue for next year, asking fans for their ideas and suggestions. Knudsen said details of the 2012 schedule haven’t been worked out, but SIX is planning to do 6 shows a week, 4 evenings and 2 matinees.  Gilley will perform 4 shows per week, splitting nights and matinees. Gilley owns the theatre and it will retain his name for the time being.  He told HometownDailyNews.com it is for sale, and Knudsen says he and his brothers may be interested in buying the theatre at some point.

Reminds me a lot of the Lebron James saga about whether he would stay in cleveland or go to miami. At least James donated a bunch of money to the local boys and girls club.
