With the New Year, comes the city of Branson’s decision on what to do with the old high school building on 6th Street it purchased in 2011 from the Branson School District. A flexible, multi-use mix of tenants is what a special team of architects and design professionals recommended in December. City Administrator Dean Kruithof tells HometownDailyNews.com 8-million dollars in renovations the assessment team also suggested isn’t possible this year, but it’s a project that will be addressed over the next several years:

Kruithof said Branson might also follow the lead of Sillwater Oklahoma– a city that took an old middle school, and turned it into a multi-dimensional community center that took almost 20 years to complete.

Do like they do everything else.Tear it down and start over.Make that neighborhood a beautiful park, Plenty of land there and room for parking, and im betting not quite as exspensive as renovating a building designed as a school

I think this is a clear sign of rushing into buying the school and realizing the debitness of the city to find an out after wasting tax payer monies to purchase this. Spin all this is, vote them out

Maybe they should look into making it something more useful that will offer value to the community, possibly bring jobs or shelter to people who have lost everything due to the economy. Im sure there is plenty of people who cant afford to live and provide for their familys

Really? Is this really something that the city should spend tax dollars on? What if any advantage is this going to bring to the community in which it is as well as tax payers? Its a small neighborhood that is not suitable for heavy traffic, also that location is not currently set up for very many vehicles. The neighborhood kids have played on that playground equipment at that school for years. I don't understand why the city feels the urgency to grow as quickly as it is trying to. That building is very old and def needs the repairs to be brought to certain standards. That is why the school district opted to build new facilities as opposed to dumping money into something that will never meet the needs the have. Demolish the building and make it a community park or something that will be suitable for the neighborhood. Its bad enough that the church army has set up camp in that community with all of the so called "reformed addicts" all over the place. I grew up in that neighborhood and in my opinion it has went way south.
