Southern Stone County firefighters spent about 3 hours Monday working to contain a brush fire near Blue Eye.
Crews sent out a second alarm after reaching the scene along Avery Ridge Road, and had some help from the Oak Grove fire department in containing the fire to about 40 acres.
Fire officials say fighting the fire was difficult, as high winds caused the fire to shift directions and jump the fire lines.
No one was hurt. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
