Just days after telling Hometown Radio he couldn’t commit to a debate with the other two Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, St. Louis businessman John Brunner has agreed to square off against Sarah Steelman and Congressman Todd Akin next month, at a forum hosted by the State Republican Party. A Republican Party spokesman says the 90 minute event will be February 18th at the party’s Lincoln Days Conference in Kansas City.
Brunner has been criticized by opponents for not accepting invitations to two other media sponsored events – one Tuesday in St. Louis, and the other January 30th at BransonHigh School presented by Earls Family Broadcasting.
Hometown Radio announced last week it will broadcast a 90 minute ‘Conversation with the Candidate’s on 100.1 FM KOMC Monday, January 30th at 7 p.m. from the Branson High School Multi-Purpose Auditorium. Both Steelman and Akin immediately accepted invitations to attend, while a spokesman for Mr. Brunner said he couldn’t commit at this time. Hometown Radio has said he has a standing invitation to participate, and the event will be held regardless of Brunner’s attendance.
