Grand Palace Price Tag Lowered (File Photo) By: Monte Schisler, News Director Posted: Wednesday, January 11, 2012 The Branson based real estate company trying to sell the Grand Palace has lowered the price by over one million dollars. HometownDailyNews.com has learned that Keller Williams Realty is now offering one of Branson’s largest venues, with 4-thousand seats, and the surrounding 13 acres of land on Highway 76, for just over 5-point-3 million dollars. The company first listed the property for almost 6-point-5 million back in October, after a foreclosure auction on the courthouse steps fell thru, when a potential buyer failed to secure the cash needed for closing. Sources have said the property has been shown to potential buyers a couple of times in recent weeks. The California broker handling the sale for the theatre’s bankruptcy trustee has been unavailable for comment.

Maybe someone will buy the place, and bring in some great "family" entertainment like "Nellie" to perform.

I hope someone will buy it and bring in some great family entertainment period.

I hope someone will buy it so the place looks presentable to all that drive by it. Like the worthless Branson convention center, it's not big enough to draw in currently "hot" national productions.

What this town needs is some new entertainment. Whoever buys this, needs to just demolish the building and start over. I can only imagine how much MOLD is growing in this place since all that flooding that happened a few years ago. It just needs to be torn down.

Hewy - why don't the City of Branson buy the Grand Palace.
yup - 01/11/2012 5:10:12 PM
The palace is a lost cause. it needs way to many dollars in repair work to justify fixing it up to actually hold shows in again. Which if i was were guessing is why the previous ppl that bought it on the steps suddenly had no funding. Think about it with as many churches as we have in this god forsaken town don't you think that it would have already been scooped up for another "house of take your money?"
theatrelover - 01/11/2012 5:27:27 PM
I think it would be a great venue for the touring companies of Broadway shows.

Maybe Nellie will come in and buy it!! He should! He is the only artist to come to Branson and completely sell out a 3000 seat venue this year!! Outside of Silver Dollar City crowds, Nellie was Bransons biggest draw for 2011. People need to realise the days of the toothless Branson style shows are over.
This city government - 01/12/2012 5:47:08 AM
The way this City government has acted in recent months, the town deserves to have this building sit empty until it falls down.
There is no way in this day and time someone can purchase this old dog and then spent that much more to renovate it and make it pay for itself.
When SDC dumped it, its a given there is no money to be made there.
It (Branson) is as good right now and it will ever be.
Change is unceasing, passing another ordinance to hurt the mom and pops seem to be their only answer. That won't fix your problem.

All the comments on here are so funny and correct, but the GREAT LEADERS OF THE HOLY CITY OF BRANSON will never listen to us (the people). I agree that the city deserves to just have this fall down and be another big eyesore for the city. First Red Roof Mall and now the Grand Palace. But at least we have a convention center and the landing. Oh wait, a few more years and we'll be boarding them up too. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Wasn't the Hip Hop Artist's name spelled Nelly and not Nellie? Maybe the entire Internet is incorrect on the spelling... I guess if the community votes to destroy the Grand Palace, the community who so proudly displayed their artwork at his concert will have a vacant lot to paint their white crosses.
So, how stupid are you? - 01/13/2012 10:31:35 PM
You know not every thing that happens in the world is the City or County's fault... you people are really a piece of work. How do you even get an "eyesore" that was privately owned by a "good businessman of Branson", foreclosed on by a financial institution, then taken over by FDIC, the fault of the City. Those dots do even connect... I hear you can move out of Branson and still complain about where ever you land... You might give it a try, cause most of use are tired of listening to you complain about stuff you haven't a clue.

They need to drop the price tag in half to account for repairs that it is in dire need of. I believe the venue, if marketed well, would be a great place for "up and comers" to perform. I believe that acts like: Brad Paisley, Eric Church, The Band Perry, The Grascals, and many others that were previous newbies would have had no problem performing there and selling out the place. Everyone knows that Branson is in the center of the "Heartland". We have well over a million country music fans within 4 hours drive of this town. There is no excuse. If I had the money and the marketing team I would snatch it up in a heartbeat if the price came down another 30%. We need new acts in this town. Regardless of how talented SIX, Clay Cooper, Pierce Arrow and others are; no one has heard of them or will be driving 4 hours just to see them. This town has got to revitalize it's industry, TOURISM. The majority of the blame is not to be put on the city or county, but I do agree, the City of Branson has not been the easiest on new businesses in the passed decade. You Presley haters can only blame it on Raeanne for so long until you have to notice your own faults. I believe the city leaders are doing the best with what they can (e.g. terrible economy, Andy William's fans passing, the cost of travel, etc...) We need to have less self entitled whiners and many more thinkers and doers. The Grand Palace was an amazing venue that many current Grammy Winners performed at. If anyone has a better idea, cough up the cash or run for office, otherwise sit on your couch and watch Springer re-runs.
RE-So - 01/15/2012 7:53:29 AM
I believe the posters on here aren't concerning themselves with the "world", but Branson. So, since nobody here seems to have a clue, how about you enlighten us? Is it fair to assume you work for the city? An alderman perhaps?
RE so so From How... - 01/16/2012 7:43:54 PM
Well Jim makes the point exactly... thank you...now you can feel enlightened...
RE so so From How... - 01/17/2012 11:35:59 AM
That's great and all. But I didn't ask Jim, I asked you. So again the forum waits for YOUR enlightenment.

If you all can pray, I'll buy it. God has given us an original idea and all the folks I know are praying. I can do all things though Him who strengthens me... If you will pray for us that God will provide the means, we'll comed and together we will see things we can now only imagine.
Thanks,
and God Bless you all.
