Closure for the family of a missing Missouri State Trooper, after his body was swept away by flood waters last summer in Northwest Missouri. The Highway Patrol says a construction contractor doing highway repairs in the area Thursday discovered the body of Fred Guthrie in a brush pile not far from where he and his K-9 partner were patrolling August first near Big Lake. Guthrie’s dog was recovered the day after the two disappeared. A funeral was held for the missing trooper last month, even though his body had not yet been recovered. In a prepared statement, Governor Jay Nixon said Trooper Guthrie made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the people of Missouri.
