Good luck I say you have served yout time in Branson and you deserve better.
why - 01/17/2012 6:20:54 AM
If the city of Branson didnt want him to be the Chief of Police, why would we want him to be the Sheriff. Ask some of the Branson Police Officers about him. We dont need him for the Sheriff !
McAwfull - 01/17/2012 6:51:11 AM
Mr Dalton, If you get elected sheriff of Taney Co, please get the Sheriff's Website operational again, it has been "temporarily down" for a long time, we cant check to see who is incarcerated in the jail or anything else.
Now who is on TILT? - 01/17/2012 7:02:30 AM
"Dalton says he has known incumbent Sheriff Jimmie Russell for many years, and feels he has done a “fantastic” job during his three terms." Nice politics Mr. Russell - by having a 3rd candidate it pretty much INSURES you win again. So much for CHANGE in Taney County thanks to the committee of Dalton and Russell to pretty much guarantee nothing changes!
Whynow - 01/17/2012 7:18:12 AM
Who wants the guy that the City of Branson PASSED up as Chief of police to run the entire county? I think it is time for a new face and some new blood.
S.B. - 01/17/2012 7:20:34 AM
Isnt this the guy that wasnt even good enough to be the Chief of Police in Branson? Wow -- guess Ill tell my grandma to run since looks like anyone can be sheriff around here between Russell and Dalton wow my days are looking brighter - sheesh!
cowboy - 01/17/2012 7:25:00 AM
If the city didnt want him as police chief and the turnover rate of the branson police department is any indication taney county doesnt want him either
Concerned - 01/17/2012 7:31:47 AM
If Russell has done such a GREAT job then why are you running against him?
Think about this..... - 01/17/2012 7:48:13 AM
Dalton has/will resign from his job to run for the Office of Sheriff. I there is an agreement and he doesn't win the nomination he has no job, but maybe the job of Chief Deputy? Time will tell, won't it?
Amazed - 01/17/2012 1:24:28 PM

Good Luck Steve you deserve it!
Hmmmmmm - 01/17/2012 6:27:14 PM
So Dalton was apporched by who in September? Ohhhh I bet the great and almighty commissioners of Taney County asked Dalton to be their man to run against Russell. I dont know why they would do that when they are going to get voted out this year. Sheriff Russell for another Term.
Wrong - 01/18/2012 11:54:36 AM
I posted a comment and I guess it was too political for this small town newspaper. So much for someone's 1st admendment rights. It had NO cuss words or inproper language.
Concerned - 01/18/2012 1:41:03 PM
If you have worked for the City of Branson for 23 years and did apply for the police chief position (which you did) we must wonder why you were not chosen. I think if you were doing such a wonderful job at the City they would have chosen you but by them not it looks like you were not up to there standards and not doing your job up to expectations. Yes ask some of the Branson Police Officers or citizens, he is arrogant and talks about other law enforcement officers badley behind their back even though he states "he cares about people" (right), is this what we need as a sheriff, I don't think so.
You can bet on it - 01/23/2012 2:40:56 PM
You can bet that Dalton will end up being Russells new Chief Deputy. I am sure that is all part of the plan. Making side deals. Icckkkkkkk I want a different Sheriff!!!!!!
Research - 01/26/2012 9:18:26 PM
Taney County residents you really need to do your research on Dalton. When a vote of support was taken by the city of Branson on the selection of a new Chief for BPD Dalton was not even in the running less then 3 people/coworkers voted for him.. It it goes way beyond that. And trust me when I say Jimmie Russell would have no intentions of having Dalton in his department. He is way smarter then that. Steve give it up. What goes around comes around.
@ Research - 01/31/2012 10:36:18 PM
nice observation.
Deb - 02/08/2012 1:14:05 PM
I hope that all three men run for the sheriff's seat. I hope that the right one gets in there and that he does the job to everyone's expectations. but i hate to say it, it isn't going to matter who gets elected because once something happens and people start to not like who is in the seat for sheriff, then we will hear all this again. Vote the way you want to vote. But remember, only you can decide who you are voting for.
barney - 02/16/2012 9:08:59 AM
Dalton no
bad dalton - 02/25/2012 10:34:28 AM
what we dont need is more do nothing police i am talking about dope it is all over the city yes branson get your head out of the mud the man that has all the say in the dope in branson is the same man that donates large amounts off money to comet and to people like dalton to turn his head about the problem.
@bad dalton - 02/25/2012 4:23:48 PM
do you realize that we are allowed to use punucation marks? or does someone pay dalton to control those too? hmmm, something to ponder!
