Governor Nixon's State of the State Speech Tonight

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will deliver his annual State of the State speech tonight at the State Capitol in Jefferson City.

One local Republican State Senator says he will be listening for ways the Democratic Governor proposes to cut state spending, for what some have projected as a 500-million dollar budget shortfall this year.

Some lawmakers have said re-writing the states funding formula for public schools is one priority, as is an effort to create more jobs forMissouri.

State lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are waiting for how Missouri Governor Jay Nixon plans to tackle what some have estimated as a 500-million dollar state budget shortfall this year.

Governor Nixon, a Democrat, is expected to lay out his plan during tonight’s annual state of the state speech from the floor of the Missouri House of Representatives in Jefferson City.
