Two women from Taney County are awaiting court appearances after being charged with various counts of Medicaid fraud by the State Attorney General.
47 year old Melinda Alterauge of Branson, and 30 year old Alethea Stemick of Kirbyville, along with two other women from Texas County, are accused of stealing by deceit, for their involvement in a scheme that allegedly defrauded Missouri’s Medicaid system of almost 13-thousand dollars between 2009 and 2011.
The Attorney General’s office says all four defendants face multiple felony and other charges for submitting falsified in-home care timesheets to Medicaid providers.
The Texas County Prosecuting Attorney’s office is handling the case with assistance from the state’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
