The Green Forest Fire Department will not be purchasing a new fire truck anytime soon.  City Council members have turned down the idea, saying they don’t have the extra 300-thousand dollars to purchase the vehicle.

The Carroll County News is reporting that members of the fire department presented their request to city council.  The Mayor says today’s economy has changed, and not for the better. It was suggested the fire department look for grant money to buy the fire truck.

Members of the Green Forest City Council have approved this year’s budget of just over 7-point-6 million dollars, but it doesn’t include money for a new fire truck as requested by the town’s fire department.

The Carroll County News is reporting that the Mayor has said Green Forest just doesn’t have the extra 300-thousand dollars needed for a new fire truck, and suggested the fire department look for grant money to make the purchase.
