Eureka State Representative Tim Jones was one of two Republicans to provide an official response to the Governor’s State of the State speech.

In a pre-taped statement, the House Majority Floor leader said if the past is any indication, the Governor’s leadership will stop once the cameras are turned off and the reality of life continues:

Jones said Missourians deserve better, and said it’s not enough to make one lofty speech every year. He said the Governor needs to have an agenda, and follow through on that agenda and seriously address the issues that are facing our state.

Senate Appropriations Chairman Kurt Schaefer was one of two Republicans to provide an official response to the Governor’s State of the State address.

In a pre-taped statement, the Columbia lawmaker said the Governor’s speech should be the beginning, and not the end of his involvement in solving the state’s budget crisis:

Schaefer said if lawmakers engage the right stewardship today, he is optimistic they can build a state full of ever increasing opportunity.

Keep in mind those same republicans are in charge in Jefferson City in both houses. What happens with spending all depends on them. Remember the last session what they accomplished....NOTHING! And we paid the bill for the regular session and the special session. Thanks Tim Jones and your pals for NOTHING.

The Republican Party has controlled both houses for over 10 years. They control the agenda and are responsable for all legislative actions including budgets and economic development. Evidently blaming the governor for their failure is easier than taking responsibility. The Missouri legislative body is like Congress, pathetic.
