Church Army volunteers today are counting the number of homeless individuals in Taney County.  The Point-In-Time street count, as it’s referred to, is required of any community that receives financial support from the federal government’s Homeless Assistance Program.

Church Army Spokesperson Michelle Harllee tells HometownDailyNews.com, volunteers will also handout backpacks with toiletries, canned food items and warm clothing to anyone needing immediate help:

Harllee says survey data is processed by the Missouri Housing Development Commission and is used to gauge the housing and services needs for the homeless in Taney County.

This is the 5th consecutive year that Church Army has conducted the survey.

Today is the Point in Time Street count of the homeless in Taney County.  For 5 years now, Church Army Volunteers have ventured out to gather the data, as required of any community that receives financial support from the federal government’s Homeless Assistance Program.
