The head of the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau says the recent decision by Southwest Airlines to fly into the Branson Airport is good news for the area.

As first reported on HometownDailyNews.com Friday, Southwest announced its intention to transition from AirTran to Southwest.  And while an official date hasn’t been set for the switch, Chamber C-E-O Ross Summers says the future looks bright:

Summers said while the Chamber will continually talk about the Southwest announcement in the coming weeks, his staff doesn’t plan to alter its 2012 Marketing Plan for the Branson area.  He said extra publicity will come once Southwest puts Branson on its website – a website considered by some as the top airline site on the internet.

Free publicity is the best kind of publicity – so says the head of the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Chamber C-E-O Ross Summers says he’s doubtful the organization’s marketing plan will change for 2012, now that Southwest Airlines has announced it will fly into the Branson Airport at some point in the coming months. He says Southwest will give the area a boost when it adds Branson as a destination to its airline website:
