John Brunner’s opponents in the Republican Primary for US Senate were both asked their thoughts on not having him in attendance tonight for The Conversation with the Candidates at Branson High School.   

Congressman Todd Akin tells HometownDailyNews.com he doesn’t want to run down other people, and says the fundamental question goes back to his days in the corporate sector, when he worked for IBM.

Former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman says missing this opportunity tonight is Mr. Brunner’s loss, and she is anxious to participate.

I really think it's dangerous when a candidate refuses to debate or attend these forums. That means the only thing we know about him may be his campaign ads. Not a good way to know someone.
