Meeting to be Scheduled on Funding Distribution Error

The superintendents of four Taney County school districts are still working to schedule a meeting with an expert in school finance, before considering how to best correct a 10 year error in the distribution of Railroad and Utility tax funds by the office of  the County Collector.  The error affects the Forsyth, Branson, Hollister and Kirbyville districts.  The Forsyth school district is due about 25-thousand dollars because of the error, which Superintendent Brent Blevins says was not evident over the years…

Blevins says the superintendents feel it’s important to bring in a knowledgeable and unbiased consultant to verify those numbers, so they’re calling on Allan Crader for his expertise in school finance matters.  Blevins says mistakes happen, and the superintendents will work together toward a solution that will not significantly impact the students in any of the affected districts.

Blevins says his district is owed about 25-thousand dollars because of the error.  He says that while the amount Forsyth receives from that tax can fluctuate from year to year, nothing was noticeable, as the amount showed the kind of growth expected over the 10 year period.
