The owner of a Branson West construction company is being sued by the State Attorney General, accused of cheating tornado victims in Joplin.

E. Brian Sides of Reed Spring, owner of A-B-P Quality Construction, is named in the lawsuit, accused of failing to provide goods and services paid for by tornado victims following the deadly storm last spring.

Attorney General Chris Koster’s lawsuit alleges that after homeowners paid Sides tens of thousands of dollars for things like tile, cabinets and appliances, he and his company stopped working and failed to deliver the items that were paid for.

The lawsuit is seeking a restraining order requiring Sides to stop operating a construction business, and to provide restitution to all customers allegedly involved.  In addition the Attorney General is asking the court to impose civil penalties of 1-thousand dollars per violation and to require Sides and his company to pay all court, investigation, and prosecution costs.

When will people learn not to pay for a service or a job until the job is finished! Stories like this hurts the honest contractor like ourselves who does not ask for payment until the job is complete and all the lien wavers are in place.

Mr. Bowling is so correct!! People like Sides give honest contractors a bad name...anyone who could do this to anyone, let alone people who have lost everything they had worked for including lives has no conscious and no respect for human kind...there is a special place for people like Brian Sides

Yes this gives contractors a bad name, but not all contractors are dishonest. I feel bad for those persons who got ripped off but we as contractors also deal with a dishonest homeowner once in a while too.
