Alvin Deane Sickels
Alvin Deane Sickels, age 73, of Branson, Missouri, passed away with
family at his bedside, December 28, 2020. He entered this life June 10,
1947, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Deane and Lucille (Jones) Sickels.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brother, Raymond Sickels. He
was joined in marriage August 27, 1967, to his childhood sweetheart, Mary
Jane Mercer.

Alvin wore many hats throughout his working career: Army Reservist,
barber, car salesman, custodian, and school bus driver in Reeds Spring.
He coached youth baseball and officiated high school football in Iowa
during his younger years. In later years, Alvin could be found watching local
Tri-Lakes area high school football and basketball along with being a
faithful fan of College of the Ozarks basketball.
Favorite getaways were going on cruises and traveling with the love of his
life, Jane, along with other family and friends. The family camped at the
fairgrounds at the Iowa State Fair for many years. At home, Alvin could be
found working in his raised-bed garden or reading his Louis L’Amour books
and watching western movies. Alvin loved the Lord and volunteered at his
church Branson United Methodist Church then later at Woodland Hills
Family Church in Branson. His family was at the top of his list and came
before all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Sickels; son, Mark (Amy)
Sickels of Indianola, Iowa; two daughters: Leslie (Mark) Muerner of
Norwalk, Iowa and Emily (Fred) Scharbrough of Branson, Missouri;
grandchildren: Jake (Hannah), Jared, Jessica, Alex, Zach, Kyle, Kaden,
Cael, Bryce, Grady, Blake, and Hayley; sister, Alice Hansen of Evanston,
Illinois; and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of life will be at noon January 4, 2021, at Woodland Hills
Family Church in Branson, Missouri. Inurnment will be at the IOOF
(Independent Order of Odd Fellows) Cemetery in Indianola, Iowa, at a later
date. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hills Family
Church in c/o Care for Kids, 3953 Green Mountain Drive, Branson, Missouri
