Arvin D. “Don” Smith

Arvin D. “Don” Smith, age 79, of Jenkins, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Cassville Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born August 17, 1941 in Poteau, Oklahoma the son of Olas A. and Cheryl (Gray) Smith, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Starlette Huffer; two brothers, Bobby and Billy Smith and two grandsons, Nate Huffer and Dustin Lauffer.
Surviving are two daughters, Deonna Thomas and her husband John of Jenkins, Missouri and Gaylene Justice and her husband Sam of West Virginia; two sisters, Cindy Monell of Vail, Colorado and Sandy Huffman of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren, Arvin Brandon Smith, Amber Quinn, Zachary Huffer and Casey Zoller and three great grandchildren, Jaxon and Eli Quinn and Marley Huffer. Also surviving are his life-long two best friends, Sluggo and Terry Smith of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Arvin grew up and received his education in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was a paratrooper in the United States Army. Most of his life was spent as a self-employed painter. One year ago, he moved to Jenkins from Booneville, Arkansas. Some of his favorite pastimes were going to the casino, camping, fishing and just enjoying nature. He loved the United States of America.
Services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
