On March 4th, 2020 our angel Bertha Powell passed at the age of 75, surrounded by her loving family at home. She will be cremated at KSE funeral home in Forsyth, Mo.
Per her request, no formal service will be performed, rather her ashes will be scattered around the home here that she loved so dearly.
Bertha was born on September 23, 1945 to Dan Chambers and Emma Archie in Valliant, OK. She was granted a High School Diploma in later life through the GED program.
Bertha held several positions in her lifetime at Frontier Airlines and 5 Star Video and Brighton Care Center in Denver, Frederick and Brighton Colorado respectively. Her favorite job was being a loving wife and mother and grandmother. And her large and happy family is a testimony to this special woman's ability to nurture, love and comfort everyone around her. Her list of friends is too large to list. Suffice it to say that everyone who met her loved her.
Our Bertha was one of a kind, sweet, gentle, caring, nurturing, honest, decent, compassionate and dedicated to her family and her husband. Rivers of tears will not be enough to morn her loss.
Bertha Powell met her husband Larry at the airport in Denver, Co. She picked him up as a favor to her friend, Larry's sister. One look was all it would take. A short time later they were married in Brighton, CO and never looked back for 37 wonderful years filled with love an joy. Theirs was a love story that inspired their children and grandchildren giving an example of what love and devotion truly mean.
Bertha was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and was a living beacon defining "State of Grace."
Those who met Bertha were instantly struck with her positive amazing personality and her genuine caring for them. She is loved and cherished by all that knew her and the outpouring of love and kindness since her passing has been a flood indeed.
Bertha is survived by her husband Larry Powell, her Children Genia Ursery-Nicholes, Emma Denine Ursery, Daniel Layfayette Ursery, Marcus Lang Ursery and Shawna Powell, her Grandchildren Mathew Ursery, Stephany Ursery, Mauheele Nicoles, AJ Nicholes, Danell Brown, Raven Ursery, Grace Ursery, Marcus Ursery Jr, Octavian Stafford and Jashea Stafford, her great grandchildren Elijah Alexandria, Christopher Jacob, Akiri Jamal Jr, Nelia Manz, Nelson James Brown and Ethan Sweetwine, Siblings Billy Chambers, Cora Talbert, Emme Gene Tassian, Gwen Odell, Judy Mintor, Dian Jackson.
Preceded in death by parents Emma and Dan Chambers, granddaughter Sabrina Ursery, siblings Clifford Chambers, Cleo Chambers, Laura Chambers, Julis Chambers
