Betty Jo Jones

Betty Jo Jones, 89, Springfield, MO. formerly of Bolivar, MO passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 in Woodland Manor. She was born on June 11, 1931, in Reeds Spring, MO to James and Mary Wallace. She was a homemaker and a member of Full Gospel Fellowship Church, in Springfield, MO. Betty was well known for her hot rolls and fried chicken to all the visiting preachers and friends who shared a meal with the family. Betty took care of many, many children over the years including her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends and neighbors. Before Betty was married, she often took visitors on a tour of Wonder Cave, located on the family homestead. She also helped her folks in making hand-made baskets. she also loved crocheting and studying the Bible. She will be missed by all those who knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, they were united in marriage on November 1, 1952, in Stone County, MO; she was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother: Carl Wallace, and her sister: Beulah Rantz. Betty is survived by her children and their spouses: Barbara, and her husband, Lynn Costello, Gail, and her husband, James Garton, Nancy, and her husband, Eddie Johnson, Beverly Remmark, Brenda and her husband, Jeff Farabee, Linda Jones, and Shanna, and her husband Rodney Long; thirteen grandchildren: Jason Costello, Rachel Shoemake, Mark Garton, Melissa Freres, Billy Johnson, Joshua Baker, Brendon Farabee, Anna Farabee, Tyler Glidewell, Shantel Glidewell, Maggie Long, Aleesia Long, and Felisha Warren; twenty one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; two sisters: Lorene Blair and June Doubt and her husband, Larry; her sister-in-law: Nedra Wallace, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives: Carl and Jeanine Jones, Linda Jones, Opal Yetter, and Claude and Alta Jones.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Greenlawn Funeral Home Branson, MO, with burial to follow in the Galena, MO Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. before services at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff at Woodland Manor and special nurse, Wayne, for their loving care.
