Billy Max Edie

Billy Max Edie, age 88, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at his home.

He was born September 20, 1932 in Cassville, Missouri, the son of Bill and Idd Edie. In January of 1957 he was united in marriage to Peggy Merle Smith, who preceded him in death in 2000. There were five children born to this marriage, Terry, Shawn, twins William Scott and Shelly and Tracy. On October 26, 2004 he married Amanda Ruth Samuels, who survives. Also surviving are one son, William Scott Edie of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; one daughter Terry Scates and her husband Terry of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; two step-sons, Larry Gann and his wife Paula of Verona, Missouri and Wayne Gann and his wife Jo Ann of Memphis, Tennessee; two brothers, Marlee Edie and his wife Johnnie of Cassville, Missouri and Mansel Edie and his wife Debbie of Halltown, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Claypool of Cassville, Missouri, Ginger Hancock of Springfield, Missouri and Johnnie Loftin of Prague, Oklahoma and thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Peggy; one son, Tracy; two daughters, Shawn and Shelly and one sister, Sue.

Billy lived in Barry County his entire life and was a graduate of Cassville High School. He served in the United States Army from January 6, 1953 until January 5, 1955. He retired from Sunbeam in Neosho where he worked many years as a tool and die machinist. Hunting, fishing and camping were a few of his favorite pastimes, but he also enjoyed walking, traveling and farming. One of his loves was raising cattle. He also loved spending time with his family and he loved his mom’s apple cake.

The family wishes to thank Integrity Hospice of Monett for their excellent care of Billy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
