Burnis K. “Butch” Nearn, Junior

Butch Nearn of Forsyth, Mo, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning May 4, 2021 at the age of 75. A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 7, 2021 in the Forsyth Christian Church with Pastor Rick Fennell officiating.

Butch was born on Tuesday, July 24, 1945 in Henderson, Texas, to Burnis and Mary “Leda” (Jimmerson) Nearn. He was proud to have served in the Texas National Guard from 1968-1976 where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Butch eagerly pursued the love of his life, Rosa Lee “Rose” (Thigpen) Nearn and married her on April 26, 1968. Butch and Rose raised a family and became entrepreneurs near Joliet, Illinois, where Butch continued to serve as a member of the Crest Hill, IL Planning & Zoning Committee. They later returned to Texas briefly before re-settling in Forsyth, Missouri.



Butch enjoyed fishing and collecting sports cards. He was especially fond of the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a member of the Forsyth Christian Church.


Butch is survived by his wife, Rose; son, Gary Nearn of Forsyth; daughter, Rebekah Watson and husband, Daniel (also favorite son-in-law) of Nixa, Mo; two grandchildren, Vince and Madelyn.


Cremation is under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, Mo.
