Calvin "Cal" Howard Maledy, 88, of Branson, Missouri, passed away on October 27, 2020, from complications related to esophageal cancer. Cal was born February 24, 1932, in Salem, Mo., the son of Ernest and Lucinda (Teague) Maledy.

Cal served his country with honor and distinction for 20 years in the U.S. Army, including a combat tour in Korea and three combat tours in Vietnam. After leaving the military, Cal worked for 19 years as director of security for Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, then 17 years in transport services for Avis Rental Car in St. Louis, prior to retiring full-time to Branson in 2010.
Cal loved sports, especially basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Most of all, he loved his family and friends, and gave them many great memories that will linger for years to come.
Cal is survived by his daughter, Shelly Martin, and her partner, Chris Whitley; daughter-in-law, Julie Maledy; grandchildren: Seth Martin, Kyle Maledy and wife Amber (Adams), Kelsie (Maledy) and husband Brandon McDonald, Kristopher Maledy, and Kellie Maledy, great grandchildren Thea Maledy, Colin McDonald, and Jackson Maledy.
Because of the continuing pandemic and out of respect for the health of Cal's surviving family and friends, no formal memorial service is immediately planned. The family is hoping to arrange a memorial service at a future date in 2021. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
