Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Drucilla Ann (Post) Maledy; three sisters, Della Mae Baum, Louise Alexander, and Emmaline Garbusch; six brothers, Paul, George, Carl, Clair, Jahue, and James Maledy; a nephew, Douglas; and his son, Kevin.

Cal served his country with honor and distinction for 20 years in the U.S. Army, including a combat tour in Korea and three combat tours in Vietnam. Because of the continuing pandemic and out of respect for the health of Cal's surviving family and friends, no formal memorial service is immediately planned. The family is hoping to arrange a memorial service at a future date in 2021. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
