Carl Raymond “Ray” Ritchey
Carl Raymond “Ray” Ritchey, age 79, of Shell Knob, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Mercy Hospital Springfield in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born January 14, 1942 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Uriah Edward and Dorothy (Connell) Ritchey. On July 4, 1971 in Liberty, Missouri he was united in marriage to Marilyn Kaye (Holder) who preceded him in death on May 25, 2009. Also preceding him in death were his parents.
Surviving is one son, Robb Ritchey of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Ray was a graduate of Cameron High School in Cameron, Missouri, later attending William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri where he attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was a four year letter winner in football and golf. Ray set the NAIA National Record for consecutive points after a touchdown with twenty-nine consecutive extra points. In golf he set a course record of sixty-nine in winning the UCM Invitational At Warrensburg, Missouri. In 1985 he moved to Shell Knob from Liberty where he owned Shell Knob Insurance. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing golf and fishing. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying to football games at William Jewell College.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 12:00 P.M. Monday March 1, 2021 at Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob, Missouri. A private burial will be held at a later date.
