Charles Eugene Short, Jr.

Charles Eugene Short Jr., husband of Debra K. Short of over forty years, passed away Tuesday May 7th, 2019, at home in Galena, Missouri after nine months of illness. Born November 25th, 1956 in Independence, Missouri, he was the son of the late Charles Eugene Short Sr. and the late Carolyn May Ripps.

Chuck graduated from Sunnydale Academy Boarding School. He came home to work at Excelsior Plastics, Ed’s Carpet Warehouse, S&S Plastics, and Diversified Plastics. He began his own flooring installation business part-time in 1979 and became full-time by 1984. That work trade continued until 1998. Chuck and his wife, Debbie, opened a business, “I.B. Nuts & Fruit too”.  In 2000, Chuck went to work for Lowes in Hollister, Missouri. He remained there as a flooring specialist until his illness last fall.

He was involved with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kansas City and Centralia, Missouri; Christian Fellowship of Columbia, Missouri; Grand Old Gospel Hour, Branson, Missouri; The Glory Barn, Branson, Missouri; The Unit, Branson, Missouri. Keeping it Global and Alicia & Whitney, Branson, Missouri. Friends of Whispering Ponies Ranch, Skywatch TV and Defender Publishing. Plus, multiple itinerant ministries, locally and from around the nation and nations, he was a servant and a friend.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Short Sr and Carolyn M. Ripps. He is survived by his step-mother, Alice Fulbright.

He is survived by his wife, Debra K Short of Galena; his sons, Nathan J. Short of Chicago, Illinois, and Matthew C. Short of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Katherine M. Westmoreland of Springfield, Missouri; and grandchildren, Bayle R. Short, Ryan C. Short, Aden M. Bowers, Lexia D. Bowers, and Kiedis Westmoreland; 3 siblings, Rebecca (David) Bolejack, Cheryl (James) Fisk, and Lewis (Debra) Short; along with nieces, Amanda (Russell) Sigsworth, Cassandra (Russ) Cwodzinski and their children, and Lacie (Cameron) Carlson and their child; nephews Jeremy Fisk (Jeannette) and their children, Jacob Fisk (Shannon) and their children, Zachary Short (Dominika) and their children, and Samuel Short; plus numerous others, mentors, and adopted-by-the-heart sons and daughters. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patti (Michael) Abeln; bother-in-law, Geoffrey Gardisky; nephews, Bradley (Vanessa) Abeln, Shawn (Jana) Abeln, Robert Gardisky; and niece, Dana Abeln.

We invite everyone to a Celebration of Life for Chuck Short, Sunday May 19, 2019, with visitation from 12-1 PM, and service to follow at 1 PM, at the Whispering Ponies Ranch, 553 Burr Oak Drive, Crane, MO, 65633. Food Provided.
