Charles Ray Dowell
Charles Ray Dowell, age 87, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Cassville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born October 13, 1931 in Oak Valley, Kansas, the son of Walter and Grayce (Harris) Dowell. On February 11, 1950 he was united in marriage to Gaylene Schockey, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jimmy Ray Dowell and his wife Loveta of Manhattan, Kansas and Curtis Dowell of Shell Knob, Missouri; one daughter, Rea Czernicki and her husband Jeff of Prairie Village, Kansas; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents and two sisters, Delores and Betty.
Charles grew up and received his education in Independence, Kansas, where he graduated from high school. Later he moved to Syracuse, Kansas, where he spent most his life, before moving to Shell Knob to make his home. For many years he did custom combining and also owned a western wear and later an auto parts store, retiring in 1998. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Lake Park Memorial Gardens in Shell Knob under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
