Charles “Vern” Petty, age 95, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at his home.

He was born March 29, 1924 in Cassville, Missouri the son of Isaac Robert Petty, Sr. and Elsie Sylvania (Brock) Petty. On December 31, 1950 in Monett, Missouri he was united in marriage to Lois Shore, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sue Hudson and her husband Tim and Janice Love and her husband Steve all of Cassville, Missouri; one half-sister, Maxine (Petty) Broan of Fairport, New York; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren: five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; step-mother, Vena (Bickford) Petty Munday; two brothers, William Everett “Buster” Petty and Joy Romulus Petty; six sisters, Nemo Velma (Petty) Davis Blades, Inice Rubena Petty, Gladys Luvena (Petty) Couch, Ivory Neoma Petty, Helen Violet (Petty) Hurst and Audrey Lucille (Petty) Eakins; a half-brother, Isaac Robert Petty Jr. and an infant half-sister, Betty Jean Petty.

Vern was a life-long resident of Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School in 1942. For several years he owned and operated a tree service and for thirty years he was employed at Contel Telephone Company. He was a member of Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms and spending time with family and friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Ken West will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
