Chester J. Zubko

Chester J. Zubko, age 90, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

He was born August 3, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Damian and Rozalia (Kusnierz) Zubko. On November 10, 1962 he was united in marriage to Herta Zirtaut, who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Carla Zubko of Springfield, Missouri.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Charlotte Mazurek and three brothers, Edward, Bruno and John Zubko.

Chester graduated from Gage Park High School in Chicago, Illinois. He was a United States Army Veteran. For several years he worked for Brinks Inc. as an armored car guard. In 1990 he moved from Chicago to Shell Knob to make his home. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob. He loved any kind of fishing, with Deep Sea being his favorite. He loved flowers and gardening, having a green thumb, he could grow anything. Building, fixing things around the house and woodworking were other hobbies he enjoyed. One of his favorite things to do was having breakfast in Town. Chester enjoyed doing scratch off’s, happy hour with a martini and a good cigar and was known as “Shell Knob’s oldest paperboy”.

Prayer services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob. Father Bill Hodgson will conduct the services.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
