Craig Alan Van Hooser
Craig Alan Van Hooser, age 61, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away May 1, 2021, at his home after a very short, but brave, battle with cancer. He entered this life September 18, 1959, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Blaine and Patricia (Scott) Van Hooser. His father has preceded him in death.
"The Jerky Man," as Craig was known, started and ran his business when people kept asking for his product everywhere he went. He was a consummate gorilla marketer that never left the house without his ‘The Jerky Man’ shirt, menus and huge backpack of jerky. Craig also started a business fixing waterbeds (Waterbed Mechanix) when they were in style. In his younger years, he served in the military followed by working as a "roadie" and running security for nationally known
bands, "Boston" being his all-time favorite band. By those who knew him,
they remember Craig always had his hair perfectly styled. He loved his family and friends, yet his dogs were family also. He lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.
Craig is survived by his mother, Pat Van Hooser of Lampe, Missouri; brother, Buck (Kathy) Van Hooser of Ash Grove, Missouri; niece, Antoinette (Ryan) Martin of Lampe, Missouri; nephew, Carson (Michaela) Van Hooser of Reeds Spring, Missouri; great-nephew and great-nieces: Nate, Kylie, Fiona, Colette; his Uncle and Aunt Alan and Patty Van Hooser, 6 first cousins, their families and many other cousins, his dog, Kilo; and best friend, Rick Himmelberg.
A celebration of life wake will be 3-5 p.m. May 8, 2021, at the Drunken Monkey Bar and Grill, 1816 W. Division St, Springfield, Missouri. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
