David Buel Cox

David Buel Cox (7/20/53 - 4/11/21) passed away peacefully on Sunday after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Kelly, daughter Amber Cox and her wife Kyle Hudson, sister Becky Preddy, stepchildren Ryan Truman and her husband John, Miles McNeill and his wife Tarah, grandchildren Abbigail, Morgan, Ella, Rori, Declan and Dylan. He is also survived by several cousins, including Carolyn Bowen and her husband Don, as well as great cousins Annette Cozort and Jennifer Shumaker. In addition, his nephew Ryan Preddy, niece April Lawson, her husband Chris and great nephews Bowen Preddy and Cooper Lawson survive him. David is the son of the late Hollis and Dorothea Cox.

David Cox

David graduated from Cassville High School in 1971, where he was a basketball star for the Wildcats. A life-long construction professional, he was best-known for his kind heart and quick smile. A collector of friends, both the human and animal kind, he was always ready to lend a hand to a person or a pet.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, celebrating five World Championships. David loved chatting up neighbors about sports and keeping an especially close eye on his daughter’s teams. His favorite athlete to follow (and brag about) was his great nephew and former Wildcat standout Bowen.

It is likely that many in the community crossed paths with David as he was headed to Table Rock Lake with a bass boat attached to the back of his vehicle, with an Airedale in the back seat and an Allman Brothers tune ringing from the speakers. Nothing brought him more joy.

A celebration of life for David for friends and family will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

The family requests that donations be made to the Haven of the Ozarks Animal Sanctuary at www.havenoftheozarks.org.
