Delaine Ernest Ford Jr.
Delaine Ernest Ford Jr. was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on February 10, 1948, to Delaine Ernest Ford and Cynia Sue Jefferson. He was raised in both Okmulgee and Bakersfield, California, and considered his aunt Maxine to be his mother as well. He is survived by his devoted, loving wife, Julie; son, Delaine Jr; daughters: Sanaa, Tamara, Jacquelyn, and Delainia; sisters: Denise, Monica, Willie Jean, Patricia, Cheryl, Alyce, and Chrissy; brothers: Phillip, Denorvas, Harold, Anthony, Tyree, Andrew, Michael, and Larry Ray; and his spiritual lifetime brother, Richard Clark. He is also survived by his first wife, Debra and companion Constance; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and, in addition, eight brothers and sisters that have preceded him. Special mention of his niece Fatina.
Delaine worked many jobs in his life including construction and maintenance but his favorite job and the one he held longest at 13 years was prep supervisor at Garfield’s Restaurant in Branson, Missouri. He and Julie were very active with Gateway Church/Jesus Was Homeless making meals for homeless and breakfast for the congregation, and many people mention how he counseled them with kicking addiction. They were also members of God's Touch of Delivering Ministry in LA. Delaine was a vibrant man, a loving husband and father, and a steadfast friend with a strong faith in God. With God behind him and prayers of many friends, family and strangers, he and Julie successfully battled his cancer for far longer than doctors thought possible. The face of all the world is changed since first I heard the footsteps of thy soul.
A memorial service will be held at a later time in Okmugge, Oklahoma, and then in California. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
