Della Louise Norgan

Della Louise Norgan, 82, of Forsyth, MO, passed away on April 24, 2021 at her home in Forsyth, with her family at her side.

Della was born on April 5, 1939, the daughter of Carroll and Bertha (Moore) Rogers in Meauwataka, MI. She was raised on a farm in Meauwataka, the youngest of five children. She graduated from the Mesick Consolidated schools in 1958. She married in 1960 and moved to Grand Rapids, MI. In 1977 the family moved to Springfield, MO, where she began her career of working in the funeral business. She worked in sales, selling cemetery property and pre-arranged funeral services. Over the years she had worked for White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Greenlawn North, Herman Lohmeyer and Eastlawn-Rivermont Cemeteries and Funeral Homes, all in Springfield, MO. In 1984 she became a licensed funeral director and managed the Rivermont Funeral Home for several years. In 1991 she moved to Taney County and began working at Whelchel Funeral Chapel in Branson and Forsyth, MO. In 2008 Della and Steve Davis became co-owners of Forsyth Whelchel Funeral Chapel. After Della was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, the funeral home was sold in 2015. Della attended Forsyth Christian Church of Forsyth, MO. Although Della was dedicated to her work, her family was her main focus. She had so much love in her heart it spilled into her work, where she took care of families during the toughest of times. Della also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.


Survivors include her daughter RuthAnn Parker and husband Terry of Forsyth, MO; grandsons Alexander Smith of Republic, MO, and Malcolm Smith of Springfield, MO; brother Joe Rogers and wife Theresa of Wyoming, MI; sister Caroline Loney and husband Joe of Grawn, MI; and the father of her children, Wayne Norgan of Independence, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Norgan; brother, Bill Rogers; and sister, Marie Raines.

Gathering of friends will be held on Thur. April 29, 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Whelchel Grace Funeral Home in Forsyth, MO.


Burial will be at Meauwataka Cemetery in Meauwataka, MI, with a graveside service at a later date.
