Dolly Mae West

Dolly Mae West, age 81, of Branson, Missouri, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away October 3, 2020. She entered this life October 5, 1938, in Caddo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Arthur and Francis (Stone) Childers. Dolly is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Wayland “Bud” Childers and Joseph Childers; and sister, Joyce Hancock.

An entertainer at heart, Dolly delighted in singing and playing her guitar, many of them Elvis melodies. She was a strong, independent woman who valued helping others. With a gift of hospitality, Dolly could be found cooking and feeding others, and everyone would attest she was the best cook. She was strong in her faith and will be wholeheartedly missed.

Dolly is survived by daughter, Renee (Terry) Bittner of Springfield, Missouri; daughter, Darla Acosta of Clovis, California; son, Jim (Jeni) Ward of Burbank, Washington; son, Bryan (Karen) Ward of Roswell, New Mexico; six grandchildren: Erik, Joshua, Matthew, Jacob, Rachael, and Shelbe; two great-grandchildren: Beau and Aurora; sister, Wanda Brown of Mariposa, California; brothers: Royce Childers and Anthony Childers; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Yocum Pond Cemetery in Reeds Spring, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Restoration Center at New Life Temple in Hollister, Missouri. Services and burial are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
