Ella Mae Burns
Ella Mae Burns, age 94, of Seligman, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 at her home.
She was born November 1, 1925 in Seligman, Missouri, the daughter of George Washington and Sarah Francis Louisa (Gann) Crabaugh. She was the youngest of their three children. On December 9, 1944 in Bentonville, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to James Edward Burns, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1961.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Jean Sparks; one brother, Clay; a sister, Winnie Faye and two sons-in-law, Gordan Denney and Maynard Hutchens.
Surviving are two sons, Howard Burns and his wife Jackie of Exeter, Missouri and Edward Burns and his wife Donna of Seligman, Missouri; three daughters, Donna Hutchens of Cassville, Missouri; Pat Denney of Washburn, Missouri and Mary Gabbard and her husband Sherman of Seligman, Missouri; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Ella Mae grew up and received her education in Seligman, where she graduated from high school and was the last surviving member of Seligman High School, Class of 1943. For several years she worked for Justin Boot and Clorox Company from which she retired. She was a charter member of Seligman Assembly of God Church, where she served as song leader, secretary and treasurer for decades. Some of her favorite pastimes were quilting, gardening and music.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Reverend Darlene Robison will conduct the services. Burial will be at Seligman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from Noon until service time, Tuesday, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
