Ernest “Ernie” E, Strobel

Ernest “Ernie” E, Strobel was born on June 2, 1940, in Moniteau County, Missouri, to August and Mary (Smith) Strobel, who pre-deceased him. He died June 5, 2021, at Cox Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was also pre-deceased by his brother, Bill; two sisters: Beulah and Carolyn; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He attended schools in Jefferson City and Kansas City, Missouri. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1962 and traveled the world. He was a very proud veteran. After leaving the service, he worked at GM-Leeds, AAA Sales, Farmers Insurance, Westland, Associated Transport, and retired from Allied Systems, Claycomo, Missouri.

Ernie married Barbara Dye in 1964, and they were divorced in 1979. They were the proud parents of three children who survive: Rodney (Sherrie) now of Mesa, Arizona; Ronnie Strobel now of Cocoa, Florida; and Teresa Strobel-Rowe (Robert) of Tallahassee, Florida. He was the very proud grandfather of six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

On September 20, 1983, he married Mary E. Gile, who survives. They moved to Branson, Missouri in November 2004, where they enjoyed their retirement days plus traveling in their motor home to visit family and friends.

He was a very active member of Branson’s Cowboy Church and loved all the people he met there. He never met a stranger and loved greeting and talking to people.\

There will be no formal service. He will be laid to rest at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri, at a later date. Any donations in his name should be made to Branson’s Cowboy Church, c/o Mary Kemp, 209 No. Catamount Blvd., Branson West, Missouri 65737.
