Fred Walter Cravens

Fred Walter Cravens, 57, of Rockaway Beach, Missouri passed from this life Sunday, June 30th, 2019 at his home. Services will be held Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019 at Bridge of Faith Community Church, 296 Lake Street, Rockaway Beach. Pastor Jonathan McGuire officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:00 A.M. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in the Snapp Cemetery, Forsyth, MO.

Fred was born Tuesday, December 12th, 1961 to Arthur Brown Cravens and Alberta Mae Ramsey Cravens in Anthony, Kansas. Starting his occupational career in high school, he dabbled in different opportunities working at a gas station, as a farm hand for Ira Rodarmel, and then at an electronics firm. After moving to Medicine Lodge, Kansas he worked as a Warehouseman at Davis Mud and Chemical for 13 years until moving to Branson, MO. Upon arriving, he managed a hotel and then started his own lawn care business. Following several years in the construction industry, Fred began work at North American Property Maintenance in August 2008 working up into a supervisory role. Fred met Janis Higgins in High School in St John, Kansas one Winter day when she dropped her books in the snow and he helped her pick them up. The high school sweethearts married on April 25th, 1981 in St John, Kansas.

Fred’s hobbies include fishing and golfing but the favorite past time is spending time with family. Fred attended almost every ballgame or special event for his grandchildren and loved to cheer them on. Along with his affection for his family, Fred also had a love for the outdoors, watching the storm clouds roll in and finding the constellations in the night sky. He attended Bridge of Faith Community Church where he held the self-proclaimed title of “Branson’s only deaf sound man.” He also helped maintain the property including the baptismal set up and served on the finance committee.

Fred loved to laugh, joke around, and tell stories. He was incredibly generous, loved his family deeply, and loved music. He was a very passionate person that was filled with compassion for others.

Fred is survived by his wife, Janis Cravens; Children, Ashlae and husband, Larry Cook of Forsyth MO and Kyle and wife, Holly Cravens of Palatka, FL; grandchildren, Emmalea Cook, Madilynn Cook, Khloe Cook, Levi Cravens, and Olivia Cravens; brothers, Russ Cravens, Dan Cravens, Rex Cravens; sisters, Sheila Haase, and Hope Budge. He also leaves behind many life long and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Alberta Mae Ramsey Cravens; father, Arthur B. Cravens; and sister, Lou Ann Showalter.

Memorial Donations can be made to Bridge of Faith Community Church notating Fred Cravens for purchase of headstone.
