Freddy Joe Gurwell
Freddy Joe Gurwell, aged 73, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born November 26, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas as the second son of Gene and Margaret Gurwell.
Freddy grew up and completed his education in Chanute, Kansas, where he still has many friends. At the age of seventeen, he joined the Navy, where he served for the next four years. Following his service, he moved back home, where he worked as a custom cabinet maker. In the following years, Freddy worked as a motorcycle mechanic until he gained his master plumber certification and worked throughout NW Arkansas and Southern Missouri.
Following his plumbing career, Freddy worked for Tyson’s Chick-N-Quick for more than twenty-five years, where he retired at age 61. Upon retirement, Freddy moved to Cassville, where he spent his time with friends and attending the local senior dances where he met his fiancé.
Freddy was never idle, which was evident in all his activities throughout the years. However, his passion was his family, riding motorcycles, and traveling throughout the country. An avid fisherman, he spent much of his time near the water. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Frieholtz of Rogers, Arkansas; his fiancé, Dianna Dyer of Cassville, Missouri; his son, Freddy Eugene Gurwell of Edgewater, Maryland; his daughters, Amy Louise Johnson of Arcola, Illinois and Barbie Jo Gurwell of Rogers, Arkansas; youngest son George Gurwell; one brother, Mark Gurwell of Rogers, Arkansas; three sisters, Debra Struble of Chesapeake, Virginia, Gail Callison and her husband Jim of Garfield, Arkansas and Yvonne Frieholtz of Rogers, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Torrin, Destin, Mackenzie, Lilly, Shelby, Desiree, Jasmine, Isabella and Malachi, and one great-granddaughter, Serenity.
Preceding him in death were his father; one brother, Gary Gurwell, and one granddaughter, Danielle Gurwell.
Services with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
