Frederick L. Carlson
Frederick L. Carlson, age 79, of Shell Knob, Missouri, died November 15, 2020 and was a long-time resident of Arkansas City, Kansas.
In accordance with Fred’s wishes, cremation has been effected. Private family services will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas at a later date.
He was born December 8, 1940 in Michigan, the son of Oscar and Eunice (Dollard) Carlson. He went to Arkansas City school all his life, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1960. He worked for twenty-two years at Rodeo Meats in Arkansas City, Kansas. Then twenty years at Montgomery-Kone-Wittur at Strother Field.
Fred's laughter and friendliness was contagious. He didn't know a stranger. He modeled the importance of family by always putting them first. The finer things in life for him were lake living, chocolate, ice cream, cars, and conversation.
He was the one his neighbors always called on when they needed help, an ear to listen, or just laughter.
He will be missed by all.
On October 10, 1969 he was united in marriage to Thelma D. McConnell, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Eunice Carlson and sister, Margaret Rapp of Springfield, Missouri.
Survivors include his three sons, Chris and wife Kristi of Arkansas City, Kansas, Rex and wife Tina of Derby, Kansas and Randy of Shell Knob, Missouri; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Carlson of Shell Knob, Missouri and Bill Carlson of Parsons, Kansas.
Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
