George H. Hammontree

George H. Hammontree, Cape Fair, MO, son of Lawrence Earl and Lelan (Ackley) Hammontree, was born November 12, 1929 in Newton, KS and departed this life on January 7, 2020 at the age of 90.

George H. Hammontree

George had been a resident of the area for forty-six years, moving here from Kansas City, MO after retiring from the Kansas City Fire Department. He owned and operated a roofing company for many years in Stone County. He was a founder and charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie Lodge # 4287 in Cape Fair, MO and he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hammontree; his parents; one brother, Lawrence Hammontree; and one granddaughter, Jessica Wolfe.

Survivors include: three daughters, Janice Dority, Kimberling City, MO, Joyce Wolfe and husband, Phil of Bartlesville, OK and Joan Simpson and husband, Darrin of Lenexa, KS; one brother, Joe Hammontree of Cape Fair, MO; one sister, Mary Zoe Shelley of Independence, MO; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Trisha Hanke and husband, Kyle of Nixa, MO and their children Cooper and Savannah; Patrick Coleman and wife, Emilee of Leander, TX and their children Oscar, Garrett and Makenzee; Greg Jeffery and his wife, Lori and their children Noah and Hannah; Ashley Simpson of Kansas City, MO and Madisen Simpson of Lenexa, MO along with a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 9, 2020 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Stumpff Funeral Home Kimberling City, MO. Service will be Friday, January 10, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Stumpff Funeral Home Kimberling City, MO with John Neimeyer leading the service. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes.
