Henry “Hank” Lafayette Shockley

Henry “Hank” Lafayette Shockley, age 66, of Berryville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home March 20, 2020. He entered this life December 6, 1953, in Border, Texas, the son of Charles and Mary Lou (Parsons) Shockley, who have preceded him in death. He was joined in marriage February 5, 2018, to his longtime friend, Laura Dean Walker. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.



Hank proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. As an avid reader, he listened to audiobooks while he was an over-the-road truck driver. When not listening to books, he enjoyed hearing the “Eagles” group. When at home, Hank played his guitar and sang to entertain the family and friends for hours upon end. There have been many memories made and lives influenced over the years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Hank is survived by his loving wife, Laura Shockley of the home; mother-in-law, Laura Lynn Chelston of the home; son, Henry Shockley II of Oklahoma; son, Charles (Charlene) McNelly of Morrow, Arkansas; daughter, Rose (Ryan) Krug of Tontitown, Arkansas; daughter, Katherine McNelly of Springdale, Arkansas; grandchildren: Victor, Jasmine, Kaybrina, Hope, Janessa, Landon, Bryce, Hunter, Ashlynn, and Toby; brother, Charles “Tudor” (Joy) Shockley of Oklahoma; sister, Carlotta Shockley-Keith of Texas; sister, Gloria Rudd of Texas; niece, Charlotte (Kerry) Morrison of Russellville, Arkansas; best friends: Artie, Shelly, and Arlise; and dear friend, Sally Bewley.


A celebration of life was held Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at his house in Berryville, Arkansas, with family, friends, and memories of Hank. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org). To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
