James “Jim” Joseph Czerniak Sr


James “Jim” Joseph Czerniak Sr., age 74, of Kissee Mills, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home June 19, 2019. He entered this life July 15, 1944, in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Anthony and Dorothy (Lorance) Czerniak. His parents have preceded him in death. Jim was united in marriage April 15, 1966, to Nancy Ann Rehmus. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.



Jim proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps. After the Marine Corps, he worked as a planner for 37 years at LTV Steel in East Chicago, Indiana. Jim enjoyed fishing, going to yard sales, flea markets, estate sales, and buying things to sell on eBay. He coached little league baseball when his boys were playing. Jim loved his family, especially his grandkids. He was a happy man and spread joy wherever he went, and even played Santa Claus a few times. Everyone that met Jim loved him and enjoyed being with him. Many memories have been made and will remain for years to come.


Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Czerniak of the home; son, James (Wanda) Czerniak Jr. of Altus, Oklahoma; daughter, Tracy (Dave) Goldsmith of Plainfield, Indiana; son, Tim (Nicole) Czerniak of Plainfield, Illinois; grandchildren: Ashley Czerniak, Eain Goldsmith, James Joseph Czerniak III, Mikaela Goldsmith, Emily Czerniak, Connor Czerniak, Corey Goldsmith, and Kyle Goldsmith; his dog, Sandy; brother, Larry (Sue) Czerniak of Cedarville, Ohio; brother, Michael (Hernie) Czerniak of Casper, Wyoming; brother, Jeff Czerniak of Highland, Indiana; brother, Dan (Karin) Czerniak of Blue Springs, Missouri; and 12 nieces and nephews.


Jim is to be inurned, with full military honors, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus (www.compassus.com). To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
