Jesse Lawrence Hodges

Jesse Lawrence Hodges, 76, of Kissee Mills, MO left this world on June 24th, 2020, following a short battle with cancer. Services will be private.

Jesse Hodges

He was born in Urbana, MO, on Monday, September 27th, 1943. Jesse graduated from Skyline High School in Urbana in 1961 and enlisted in the United States Navy that same year. Jesse married Vera Johnson on October 4th, 1964.

After his time in the Navy, he continued his training in mechanics and became a machinist. Jesse spent the majority of his career working as a mechanic in the airline industry for TWA/American Airlines. He was an avid bird hunter for many years and had several home businesses associated with this hobby – from raising birds and hunting dogs, to owning a dog kennel.

Following his retirement, Jesse spent his time woodcarving and working on VW Baja Bugs that he would buy, fix up, and sell. He enjoyed going for walks and visiting with friends and classmates, always quick to share stories, memories, and laughs. Jesse & Vera split their time between Kissee Mills and Yuma, AZ to be active in the lives of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jesse would always light up when he could spend time with them and get down on the floor to play.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Vera; sister, Mildred Hodges of Springfield, MO; children, Ray Hodges of Chandler, AZ and Jennifer Underdown of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Nicole Waits of Marshfield, MO and Hailey Hodges of Chandler, AZ; great-grandchildren, Jaxon DeLozier and Westyn Waits of Marshfield, MO, as well as many cousins, nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
