Jimmy Dale Cox

Jimmy Dale Cox, age 74 of Cassville, went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Cox South Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born March 16, 1945 in Wayne, Missouri at the family home, the son of Wallen and Beulah (Hood) Cox. On July 27, 1973 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Leatrice Hutchens, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Johnnie Cox and his wife Megan of Cassville, two daughters, Amy Cole and her husband Mike of Exeter and Jayme Reuter and her husband Ben of Cassville; nine grandchildren, Madelyn Cole, Sadie Reuter, Ella Reuter, Chaney Cox, Joseph Reuter, Claire Reuter, Brandt Reuter, Hale Cox and Molly Cox; one brother Jerry Cox and his wife Marilyn of Wheaton and one sister Mary Easley of Lowell, AR.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother Bill Cox and his wife Jean and one brother-in-law Ted Easley.

Jim grew up and received his education in Exeter graduating in 1963 and was member of the 1962-63 Exeter Basketball state championship team. After high school, Jim took classes at Crowder College and knocked around Barry County working for Leon Jackson, the county health department, his uncle Johnnie and Grandfather Earl Hood. Jim also loved to drive semi-trucks and go on cross country trips driving with and for his older truck driving buddies, his father, Tri-State Inc. and Keen Livestock. Later Jim went to work for Jones Truck Lines of Springdale, AR where he was a proud Teamster. Jim then struck out on his own with J & L Transportation, which Jim and Lea owned and operated for 20 years.

After he sold his trucking business Jim served several years as a road district commissioner and was active in the Farm Bureau and Cattlemen’s Association. Jim enjoyed to go on both short and long trips/adventures with his friends, to collect all kinds of things and to raise Angus cattle and hay. Most of all he loved and enjoyed his family especially his grandkids. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cassville.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor James Weaver will conduct the services. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Friday at First Baptist Church in Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Cassville First Baptist Church Youth Group in memory of Jim.
