Joanne Marie (Woosley) Funcannon

Joanne Marie (Woosley) Funcannon of Cassville, MO passed away peacefully at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett, MO on June 6, 2020. Joanne was born Sept. 1, 1931 to Helen Harris and Lyal Woosley in Peoria, IL. She graduated from Longfellow Grade School and Woodruff High School.

She married her high school sweetheart, Elijah Carl Funcannon in June 1949. They enjoyed 64 years together and were dedicated Christians. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2013.

She leaves behind 4 children and their spouses; Carl Michael (Diane) of Cassville, MO, Rick Allen (Lisa) of Lacon, IL, Scott Bradley (Lisa) of Austin, TX, and Barbara (David) Tidd of Las Vegas, NV, 11 Grandchildren, and 14 Great-Grandchildren, two brothers, James Griffin of Atlanta, GA, David Woosley and one sister, Kyle Woosley Matson, an uncle, Vernon Woosley and aunt, Carol Knight, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends including one extremely special friend, Tom Hollopeter.

She was recently preceded in death by loving sister, Barbara Taylor of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Joanne loved trees, being outside, sports, people and animals. She also appreciated music, singing gospel songs and participating in high school choirs. She performed in many theatrical productions in high school and church functions. While raising her children she was active in the PTA, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and was “Team-Mom” for many baseball and softball teams that Carl coached. The family camped across the US and Canada enjoying nature and spending time together. She always took in her children’s friends as her own, giving them attention and compassion when needed.

Joanne was a Christian Clown. She and Carl loved to perform for abused children to make sure they knew that Jesus loved them. They traveled extensively on missionary trips showing God’s love, chances are that many of you went with them.

She will be most remembered for her smile as she shared it with everyone she met.

Services will be held at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, MO on Monday, June 15th at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning one-hour prior. A private burial will be performed immediately after services.
