Joel K. DePew
Joel K. DePew, age 63, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away suddenly while on vacation in Springfield, Missouri, May 27, 2021. He entered this life on October 14, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Floyd and Helen (Simpson) Depew. Joel was joined in marriage to Sherry Melton. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd; grandson, Brandon Roitz; and mother-in-law, Marjorie; and father-in-law, Ken Melton.
An outdoorsman, Joel treasured his time on family camping trips and cookouts with the family. He always said he felt closest to God when surrounded by nature. Joel loved life and enjoyed attending many concerts and traveling. A loving husband and caring father of three beautiful now grown children, his family that loved and cared for him have twenty-seven years of memories that will be in their hearts forever.
Joel is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Sherry Melton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Thomas Roitz of Pueblo, Colorado; daughter, Kaci Rowley and son-in-law Eric Harvey of Rush, Colorado; daughter, Jennifer Melton of Kennewick, Washington; brother-in-law, Ken Melton of Pueblo, Colorado; mother, Helen Depew of Missouri; and brothers: Matthew and Darrell Depew all of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by three granddaughters: Alleson Wood of Missouri, Taylor McPherson of Missouri, and Xoie Smith of Washington; three grandsons: Haven Joel Rowley of Merriam Woods, Missouri; Jeffrey and R.J. Smith of Washington; brother-in-law, Chris Melton of Lebanon, Missouri; three nephews: Josh Melton, Geoffrey Melton, and Nathan Melton; and numerous extended family.
